Micheál Martin’s grip on Fianna Fáil, ahead of the looming general election, has been strengthened by a poll bounce.

A long-standing Fianna Fáil grassroots member who led its Cork same- sex marriage referendum campaign has resigned from the party after accusing TDs and Senators of failing to properly back the campaign.

Cork Fianna Fáil activist, Ken Curtin, has announced he is resigning from the party.

Legislation to make same-sex marriage a reality here is expected to be enacted by the end of July.
