Former jockey Ray Cochrane was today receiving a Queen’s Commendation for Bravery for the courage he showed when rescuing fellow rider Frankie Dettori from the wreckage of a crashed plane.

A jockey has told an inquest how he struggled to save a pilot from the wreckage of a burning plane.

The pilot in the Frankie Dettori aircraft crash had not been trained to use the type of plane involved in the accident, an accident report says.
