I’M wondering if the government plans to tax the use of solar panels or if they have a plan to impose a flat-rate tax on the sun rays reaching the 26 counties and for those with solar-powered watches and calculators?

SURELY the funding of €61 million of taxpayers’ money in 2008 to Horse Racing Ireland finally exemplifies the often used, but perhaps not always grasped, expression — “That’s a bit Irish”.

IN his letter accusing pro-choice groups of dishonesty (October 28), Joseph M O’Callaghan does not address the topic at issue: agencies that mislead women who are in a crisis pregnancy situation, telling them (among other things) that abortion causes breast cancer and raises the risk of suicide.

IN response to your report and accompanying article on the Women’s Resource Centre (October 6), would it not be more genuine to have the headline read ‘Subverting the right to have an abortion’ rather than the one used which read ‘Subverting the right to choose’?
