The Cork Film Festival is in its 60th year. Ahead of its launch next Friday, Marjorie Brennan pays tribute to the country’s longest-running film festival.

SINCE its foundation, in 1989, the Galway Film Fleadh has shown the best in international cinema, while being a platform for Irish filmmakers to screen their work, all in an intimate, relaxed atmosphere, full of passion and with the odd beverage.

Trainer Noel Meade rattled off a superb 64-1 four-timer at Navan, his local track, thanks to wins from Pandorama, Watson Lake, Aran Concerto and Across The Bay.
