JOAN Hamilton feared her daughter would end up trapped in a cycle of what she calls the “revolving door” of psychiatric services.

AS a small, not-for-profit voluntary organisation, and conscious of all the negative publicity regarding expenses for overseas trips paid for by taxpayers, I have a dilemma regarding an application I received last Thursday for expenses to cover a two-day visit to a conference in Britain by a member of our organisation.

I COMMEND the Irish Examiner (June 11) for highlighting the plight of mentally ill people in the feature by Harry McGee headlined ‘Mentally ill: the silent constituency’.

MURT FLYNN (Irish Examiner letters, Nov 6) says it all … he is “tired, tired, tired”... and so did your columnist Pat Brosnan (Irish Examiner, Oct 31)... “we have government by diktat without any consideration for the will of the people… we have been bombarded with policies of startling indifference to the welfare of the people”.

OH, for goodness sake! Yet another day and we have the smoking ban making front page news.

I REFER to your recent editorial calling for more funding to tackle suicide.
