A prisoner found in a coma at Limerick Prison died from a cocktail of drugs which included heroin, methadone and two types of prescription sedatives.

A man danced around the motionless body of a 25-year-old he had just assaulted and raised his arms aloft in a “triumphant gesture,” a court heard yesterday.

A 24-year-old Tipperary man has been given a 21-year jail sentence for four unprovoked assaults in Thurles in February of last year.
