Two Irishmen remain in a critical condition in Australia after a horror hammer attack at a Melbourne hostel left them with life-threatening injuries.

I REGRET to inform Fr Tom Ingoldsby (Letters, June 23) that he has made something of an understatement in declaring that “time is not on our side” in his efforts to oppose a bill which would “legalise sodomy”.

IN his rather bizarre interpretation of the Civil Partnership Bill, Fr Tom Ingoldsby SDB claims it will legalise what he calls “sodomy” (Letters, June 23).

Further to Fr Tom Ingoldsby’s letter (June 23) I thought it prudent to point out that “sodomy” (ie consensual homosexual acts) has been legal in Ireland since 1993, following the repeal of the Victorian Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
