A BUS driver was the Washington sniper’s thirteenth victim, police said last night as anxious parents took their children back to schools after a chilling warning from the gunman that said “your children are not safe.”

Playgrounds and parks were empty, shoppers darted across car parks and shaken parents took children to and from school after a 13-year-old boy was wounded by the sniper roaming suburban Washington.

ANXIOUS parents accompanied their children to school or kept them at home on Tuesday, a day after a sniper linked to the murder of six adults critically wounded a school pupil.

Two people were killed on the University of Maryland campus and at least 50 others injured when a tornado ripped through suburban Washington.
