The 27-year-old Kanturk man facing a charge of unlawfully killing a 65-year-old local man by giving him a single punch will face a fresh trial in the case, possibly in October.

A 27-year-old man admitted assaulting a 65-year-old man at the back door of a pub in Kanturk, Co Cork, but pleaded not guilty to manslaughter yesterday.

A man in his 20s has been arrested for questioning in relation to a serious assault in North Cork which led to the death of a pensioner.
