The trial of two gardaí accused of beating a protester at the May Day 2002 Reclaim the Streets demonstration continued in legal argument in the absence of the jury for most of the day in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court,

The Minister for Social and Family Affairs Seamus Brennan has called for support services and family law courts to be more sensitive towards the rights of fathers, it emerged today.

Trial dates have been set by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for six gardaí who face charges of assaulting protesters at the "Reclaim the Streets" incidents last year.
