Land will be abandoned in rural Ireland if proposed reforms to the EU Common Agricultural Policy do not get the go-ahead, according to the group United Farmers.

Dairy farmers are protesting outside the offices of the European Commission in Dublin today to highlight the effect the economic downturn is having on their livelihoods.
