A 14-year campaign for long-term, residential facilities for the elderly in the Kerry capital ended yesterday when 43 people started moving into the Tralee Community Nursing Unit.

THE elderly are being kept firmly in their place at the “bottom of the priority pile”, an 84-year-old Tralee woman who has been campaigning for a community hospital for eight years claimed yesterday.

A HIGH-PROFILE Tralee Town Council official, who has been suspended since last October to allow for an investigation into local tourism projects, is to be honoured by the council against the wishes of their management.
