THE wild and factually incorrect assertions by Roderic O’Sullivan (Letters, May 31) show a complete failure to recognise the efforts by farmers to enhance the rural environment.

How odd that Michael O’Connell should write to the Irish Examiner (October 9) about the virtues of the golf course at the Old Head of Kinsale shortly before it closes its gates for winter.

I AM doing a survey of otter-hunting in Ireland covering its sustainability and markets. The culture of trapping otters for their fur ceased in 1976 when the first Wildlife Act became law.

NOW that the first swallows are arriving, I wonder how those coming in increasing numbers from abroad will adapt to the European capital of culture.

DAMIEN ENRIGHT’S column on hill walking (Irish Examiner, September 27) contains a number of inaccuracies and clearly ignores the right of Irish citizens to their own property.
