Old Head, new idea

How odd that Michael O’Connell should write to the Irish Examiner (October 9) about the virtues of the golf course at the Old Head of Kinsale shortly before it closes its gates for winter.

Mr O’Connell writes: “There is no golf course in the world which could offer such a spectacular backdrop.”

High praise indeed. Something like heaven, I suppose — well, let us hope that the gates of heaven won’t be closed in winter! Why not invite back the walkers, birdwatchers, whale-watchers, dreamers and lovers that once came there?
