The Courts Service in Limerick has begun hand delivering letters to addresses where orders for repossession are to be made by mortgage lenders, as part of new security measures to block courtroom demonstrations by protestors.

A young couple with a new baby and three other children said yesterday they had a lender’s application to repossess their rural home “sprung upon them”.

BROADCASTER George Hook has been granted judgment against Tribune Newspapers in his €38,000 damages claim for defamation in a Sunday Tribune article published in October last year.
