MADONNA said she was “ecstatic” after her controversial bid to adopt a second child from Malawi was approved yesterday.

A judge today rejected Madonna’s request to adopt a second child from Malawi and said it would set a dangerous precedent to bend rules requiring that prospective parents live in the country for some period.

Madonna will have to wait until Friday for a Malawi judge to rule on her application to adopt a four-year-old girl as her second child from the country, legal officials said today.

Madonna has arrived at a Malawi court where she is expected to start adoption proceedings.
