A cast iron toffee axe — normally used to break up large slabs of toffee in confectioner shops — became a weapon in the hands of a looter in O’Connell St.

Until 1916, this half brick formed part of the wall at Portobello Barracks, now Cathal Brugha Barracks, in Rathmines.

This cricket bat was on display in the front window of Elvery’s when it became an early casualty of the violence that erupted in Dublin’s Sackville St, now O’Connell St, on Easter Monday, 1916.
