SHANNON Development confirmed yesterday that the Shannon Free Zone recorded a net loss of 254 jobs last year.

AN American company said Ireland’s low corporate tax rate “is a nice cherry on top” in its decision to establish a base here and that it hopes to make great savings from the rate.

Plans to create hundreds of new jobs in Shannon over the next four years are due to be officially announced in early April.

The Shannon region is reportedly in line for a major jobs boost in the coming weeks, with a possible 300 jobs coming on stream.

A SMALL Co Clare manufacturing firm and a multi- billion dollar US mobile electronics and accessories company have joined forces to establish a facility in Shannon which will see up to 300 staff employed by 2014.
