Shannon jobs to be confirmed in early April: Mayor

Plans to create hundreds of new jobs in Shannon over the next four years are due to be officially announced in early April.

The new positions are set to be generated by US electronics firm Zagg, which has set up a base in Clare and will be working in conjunction with a local company, which will provide supporting manufacturing services.

One hundred and 40 jobs are likely to come on stream by the end of the year, with another 160 by 2014.

Zagg - which is headquartered in Salt Lake City in Utah - manufactures mobile electronic accessories, including skins for i-phones and i-pads.

The Mayor of Shannon Tony Mulcahy told Clare FM the jobs would be a major boost for the entire region.
