The maker of electronic chips for Apple iPod music players and TomTom car navigation systems today said it expected solid growth this year despite “uncertain” conditions.

London’s leading shares moved forward for a third successive session today led by Northern Rock and Reuters who both reported bullish figures.

Chip supplier Wolfson Microelectronics lost a third of its market value today after pre-Christmas demand for some products failed to meet expectations.
