Six projects overseen by Science Foundation Ireland will share a total of €25m to support new research infrastructure, ranging from self-driving vehicles, to ocean observation.

The centres will focus on integrated photonics, marine renewable energy, gut health and the microbiome, data analytics, advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing and advanced materials.

Five Research Centres are being set up across the country, with combined Government and industry funding of €245m.
