CLIMBERS and hill walkers throughout the country are being warned that an ascent of any Irish mountain was now tantamount to “alpine winter mountaineering”.

Mountain Rescue Ireland says some hillwalkers and climbers are not aware of the dangers they face in the current weather conditions.
