Mountain Rescue service holds fundraising abseil

Mountain Rescue Ireland is holding an abseil event in the Wicklow mountains today to help raise funds for the organisation.
Mountain Rescue is a 24 hour emergency service provided by completely unpaid and voluntary teams and is financed by government funds and public donations.
The organisation, which is also a registered charity, represents 12 teams nationwide consisting of 365 men and women.
Sharon Power of Mountain Rescue Ireland says even the smallest of donations can go a long way: "People are raising money to support Mountain Rescue Ireland and the team. They are a voluntary team that basically provides 24 hour emergency services in remote areas every day of the year."
