Consultant psychiatrists tonight agreed to take their places on Mental Health Tribunals, set up to review involuntary detentions of mental patients.

THE Government is denying people who are detained against their will in mental institutions their rights, according to the State’s official human rights watchdog.

The Government should establish community-based services to look after people with mental health problems rather than force them into hospitals, a watchdog said today.
