Toy company Lego has announced record sales boosted by growth in its “classic” products and demand for its new Harry Potter-themed line.

Toy brand Lego today said UK sales rose 28% last year after its debut as a board games maker proved successful.

Lego today said UK and Irish sales rose 20% in the first half of the year despite a declining toy market as parents turned to the classic brand in the recession.
