The number is up significantly on Monday's figure, when 472 patients were waiting for beds.

According to the INMO Trolley Watch figures, 356 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 147 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

The are just over 300 people waiting to be admitted to hospitals around the country today.
