The real threat waiting in the wings is the wording of Article Two of the UN Convention of Rights of the Child which states that children will be “protected” from the “expressed opinions or beliefs of the child’s parents…”

The Dutch vessel dubbed the ‘‘abortion ship’’ has begun its controversial 10-day visit to Ireland with crew claiming that women seeking to terminate their pregnancies in the state were having their human rights violated.

The vessel, registered in the Dutch port of Scheveningen, carries an operating theatre within a converted container attached to its deck.

The arrival in Dublin of a Dutch medical ship with facilities for carrying out on-board abortions has been postponed due to bad weather, said a spokeswoman for the organisers.
