ABOUT 100 people sleeping rough may not be accounted for in government statistics because of a “new way of counting people”.

GOVERNMENT plans to tackle homelessness will place the most vulnerable at risk and should not go ahead in their current form, a leading homeless charity has claimed.

NEW plans to overhaul homeless services in Dublin were announced yesterday, using surplus housing stock to provide 1,000 additional tenancies by the end of this year.

THE most persistent and challenging barriers remaining for people who experience homelessness in Dublin are access to appropriate accommodation and ensuring also that the necessary healthcare, training, education and employment needs of individuals are addressed.
