The enterprise minister announced 150 new IT jobs in Cork yesterday as the live register fell below 400,000 for the first time since May 2009.

Minister for Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation Sean Sherlock is to announce another 50 new jobs at a business outsourcing company in Cork today.

The 1,000 jobs created in Cork in the past month show how the city “has become a much more competitive location” than Dublin, according to Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney.

WITH the recession forcing thousands to fly to far flung shores in the hope of finding a job, Emirates is coming here in search of 4,000 high flyers.

Up to 300 new jobs are being created in Dublin.
