Gardaí have declined to confirm whether or not members of the force will be used to plug gaps during a 72-hour strike by speed camera operators this weekend.

Workers at the company that operates Ireland’s speed camera network say they have “no option” but to strike next week.

Up to 35 staff who work for a speed-camera operator have voted to go on strike.
