Eircom has unveiled its new identity as Eir and left behind the brand it had carried through good times and bad since 1999.

Competition among television service providers is set to intensify with the entry of Eircom into the lucrative market from today with a basic television package costing just €10 per month.

Eircom has entered the television market offering 34 channels in direct competition with cable and satellite giants UPC and Sky.
