THE Government is to proceed with legislation to establish a statutory fund with the power to arrange and grant-aid a range of services to support victims of residential institutional abuse.

A FORMER Fianna Fáil mayor who was sexually abused in an industrial school has called on the religious orders to actively seek out other victims who have not yet come forward for help.

MORE than 500 former residents of institutions where children were abused have received educational grants to help them rebuild their lives.

The Government announced funding of €11m this afternoon to provide education grants to former residents of institutions and their families.
