A Dublin man has lost his appeal against the severity of a ten-year jail term handed down to him for his role in a multi-million euro drugs operation.

The Court of Criminal Appeal reserved judgement today on the outcome of an appeal, brought by a 50-year-old man against the severity of his 20-year sentence for the rape of two sisters and the indecent assault of another.

The jury in the trial of a man accused of the sexual abuse and neglect and ill-treatment of a young boy almost six years ago has been directed to return on Monday when it is hoped the case can go ahead.

A Tyrone man was today brought before the Special Criminal Court and charged with membership of the IRA and the possession of a firearm and ammunition.
