North Korea publicly executed around 80 people earlier this month, many for watching smuggled South Korean TV shows, a South Korean newspaper reported.

Some 120 North Korean prisoners have escaped a political concentration camp in the north-east of the country and security officials in the area are on high alert, news reports said.
