INDEPENDENT TD Mick Wallace has been fined €7,000 for not paying his construction workers’ pension contributions on time.

THE Irish Construction Workers’ Pension Scheme (CWPS) has been named as the best industry-wide pension scheme in Europe for 2008. At the recent IPE European Pension Fund Awards the CWPS was also named as the best Irish pension scheme for the third time.

The Pensions Board has successfully taken a case to the High Court, applying for an order directing an employer to pay arrears of contributions to a pension scheme.

RETIREMENT at 60 is an option in a new pension scheme for the construction industry.
