TD fined €7k over late pension payments

INDEPENDENT TD Mick Wallace has been fined €7,000 for not paying his construction workers’ pension contributions on time.

The Pensions Board initiated proceedings at Dublin District Court after the developer-turned-politician failed to pay €49,311 to the construction workers’ pension scheme (CWPS) between January 2008 and January 2010.

The Wexford TD pleaded guilty yesterday to five counts of late payment of pension contributions for the first five months of 2008. Another 19 counts were withdrawn on application by the Pensions Board.
