Dozens of rare species of wallaby, bandicoot and other Australian animals could become extinct within 20 years unless urgent action is taken, scientists have warned.

The level of chlorine-based chemicals in the atmosphere is falling and the hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica should close within 50 years, scientists in Australia and New Zealand have said.
