Irish cinema-goers are set to become the first in the world to experience digital cinema.

New technology is to be introduced in Irish cinemas which will lead to sharper images and a greater variety of films, it was claimed today.

Avica Technology has opened its European centre in Thurles, Co Tipperary and plans to create 50 new jobs.
