An American family which held a unique and very valuable manuscript for generations will present it tonight to a community once home to the renowned Famine-era poet who wrote it.

A manuscript of Samuel Beckett’s novel Murphy has sold at auction for just under €1.2m.

A literary treasure was sent from the US, by ordinary post, in a brown paper wrapping to a local society in Cork.
