More than a year since demolition plans for up to 20 homes in another ghost estate were announced, the process has stalled.

Council officials have been praised for tackling what was once described as one of Cork’s worst ghost estates.

A special taskforce has helped slash the number of ghost estates in County Cork from a record national high of 280 seven years ago to just 56.

It’s taken almost six years since they first spoke out, but residents of a former ghost estate in mid-Cork can finally see light at the end of the tunnel.

Cork County Council is taking legal action to recoup an insurance policy to fix what has been dubbed “the worst ghost estate in Ireland”.
