The Office of Public Works (OPW) has extended by a month its deadline for submissions on the largest flood defence scheme in the history of the State.

Two major flood prevention schemes, costing a combined €22m, are to get under way in Co Cork within a couple of weeks.

It is understood Dublin City Council is to consider altering the appearance of the concrete flood defence sea wall under construction along one of Dublin's most iconic routeways.
