Ireland’s eventers booked their place in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics yesterday when finishing sixth and securing the last qualifying place at the Alltech World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Normandy, France.

Sam Watson proved best of the Irish at the European Eventing Championships in Malmo, Sweden, placing 21st, as the team finished seventh of 10 countries.
