Reimagine Cork is staging a treasure hunt across the city as part of Heritage Open Day tomorrow, writes Colette Sheridan

A replica, walk-through First World War trench which has been installed in Cork’s public museum will allow visitors to experience the dark, cramped, and brutal conditions endured by the millions of soldiers who died in trench warfare.

A record number of buildings in Cork City will unlock their doors for the 10th anniversary of Cork  Heritage Open Day.

PEOPLE have been encouraged to embrace their past, to understand it and to learn from it more or less since history began.

FROM whale-watching to historical re-enactments and from nighttime bat walks to lectures in stately homes, an impressive 1,000 events will take place across the country for Heritage Week, which will see a large number of historic buildings throw open their doors to the public, many for the first time.
