John O'Donoghue TD, Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, today encouraged the public to participate in the unique public events happening in Dublin and throughout Ireland.

The celebrations to mark the accession states' entry to the European Union will go ahead despite a music concert being cancelled, the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, John O'Donoghue has said.

A special 'Day of Welcomes' is to be held here on the first of May next, to mark the accession of the 10 new member states into the EU.
