Pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi finally walked to freedom today amid massive cheers from elated supporters who flooded the streets outside her home in Burma.

An American whose unauthorised visit to Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi led to her extended detention, has been released, the office of US Senator Jim Webb said today.

A crowd of Aung San Suu Kyi’s supporters gathered today at a hospital in Burma’s capital, Rangoon, where the detained pro-democracy leader is recovering after surgery.
