It’s never much fun when you settle down for a fireworks show and get bombarded in a watertight but that’s how the players felt as the opening round of the 116th US Open was suspended due to heavy rain.

We won’t know for sure until the 116th US Open is completed — and given Mother Nature was running amok yesterday, who knows when that will be — what will become of a young man named Andrew Landry in this competition.

In the days leading up to the 116th US Open, sightings of Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson around Oakmont Country Club were in short supply. The left-hander had reportedly flown back home to California for a daughter’s graduation from middle school, while Johnson played his practice rounds late in the day and with very little fanfare.
