Love Island's Sean Fitzgerald and Lola Deal make things 'official' with sweet gesture

Love Island contestant Sean 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald has made his relationship with fellow Islander Lola Deal, whom he left the villa with, official. 

The Galway footballer departed Love Island after he and Lola Deal, who he was coupled up with since day one, put themselves forward to be dumped from the villa.

The couple found themselves at risk after finishing in the bottom three in a public vote and put themselves forward as the couple who should leave, as they had found what they had come to the villa for.

The pair have now made their romance official, with Fitzy sharing the news on Instagram.

The carousel photo post shows Fitzy and Deal posing in a hotel room that Fitzy had decorated, using balloons to spell out the question 'Will you be my girlfriend', as well as balloons that reached the ceiling.

Fitzy captioned the post: "She's officially a WAG" - a nod to a conversation they had early on in their romance in which Deal told Fitzy that she always wanted to be a WAG.

The announcement was met with excitement from friends and former Love Island contestants.

Priya Jaswal posted: "Buzzing for you guys". 

Kavan Murphy wrote: "Yes Fitzyyy", while Sam Workman write: "LOVE THIS".

Deal also expressed her happiness, writing: "Happiest Girl Alive" underneath the post.

The couple has made plans to move in together, with Deal moving to Ireland and Fitzy returning to his hometown to support his local GAA team.

Speaking to the Irish Examiner after his exit from the Love Island villa, Fitzy didn't rule out a return to teaching and expressed gratitude to his principal, who encouraged him to go on the show.

"Before I went in, I was typing into ChatGPT for the Heart Rate Challenge, asking, ‘What dances can I do that won’t get me in trouble as a primary school teacher?," Fitzy said.

“The thing I missed the most was the kids,” he admitted.

Both Fitzy and Deal were also recently spotted attending the Galway Races together, with Fitzy excited to show his now-girlfriend everything that Ireland has to offer.
