Galway footballer Seán Fitzgerald departs Love Island villa after finding love
During their time in the villa, Fitzy and Lola developed a strong connection, overcoming challenges before making their relationship exclusive on the show.
Galway footballer Seán 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald's time on Love Island has come to an end after he and fellow Islander Lola Deal put themselves forward to be dumped from the villa.
The couple found themselves at risk after finishing among the bottom three in a public vote on Sunday night’s episode, alongside Martha and Jordon, and Mica and Samraj.
The couple who received the highest number of votes, and therefore deemed the public’s favourite pairing, were Lorenzo and Julia.
In a twist to Sunday’s dumping, the Islanders received a text informing them that it would be Lorenzo and Julia who would decide who stays and who goes.
Before Lorenzo and Julia had a discussion about who to dump, Fitzy and Lola put themselves forward as the couple who should leave, as they had found what they came to the villa for – love.
Julia, who entered the show as a Casa bombshell and was brought back to the main villa by Lorenzo, had an ongoing feud with Fitzy and Lola. Lorenzo and Seán, on the other hand, have been close since day one in the villa, making the decision particularly difficult for the business owner from Hertfordshire.
The decision was ultimately made to take Fitzy and Lola up on their offer and dump them from the villa.
Becoming emotional, Lorenzo described the decision as the worst to have to make, but was reassured by both Fitzy and Lola that it was the right choice.
After an emotional goodbye with the remaining cast members, Lola told cameras after leaving the villa that she is “probably the happiest person to ever be dumped from the villa”.
Fitzy chimed in, saying: “She’s given me everything I ever wanted. I got a best friend and a girlfriend soon to be as well.”
Lola said she is grateful that she gets to do life with Fitzy outside the villa.
Their departure marks the end of the Galway man’s journey on the reality dating series, where he entered as one of the original contestants.
During his time in the villa, he and Lola developed a strong connection, overcoming challenges before making their relationship exclusive on the show.
