The actress is now preparing for her major television return, joining the residents of Carrigstown on the Fair City set next month

Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard, known for her iconic screen presence, is set to join the cast of Fair City next month.

The actress is renowned for portraying legendary pub landlady Liz McDonald on the beloved ITV soap for three decades.

The star departed the cobbles in 2019, leaving viewers heartbroken, but she reappeared on our screens in 2020 when she took part in I'm A Celebrity.

Callard is now preparing for her major television return, joining the residents of Carrigstown on the Fair City set.

Beverley will portray Lily, Gwen's estranged mother. Gwen, portrayed by Emily Lamey, has become a viewer favourite since she arrived in Carrigstown in 2023, but little has been revealed about her family background.

On Wednesday, RTÉ unveiled initial photographs of Callard on the Fair City set.

“It’s official! Beverley Callard has landed in Carrigstown. The beloved actor, known for her unforgettable roles and iconic screen presence, is joining the cast of Fair City,” a statement from RTÉ read.

“Beverley steps into the role of Gwen's long-lost mother Lily - quirky, unpredictable and sharp as a tack, she carries just enough edge to keep Carrigstown on its toes.

“Beverley will make her Fair City debut on 19 February 2026, and trust us, you won’t want to miss what she brings to the community.”
