Saturday with Trinny Woodall: Saturday is my day of rest — I eat whatever the hell I like

I’d like to say that I sleep in, but I have a whippet lurcher cross who at 6am will start to push me out slowly. I’ll let her do that for an hour and then get up at 7.30am. I’m usually up at 6.30am mid-week so a really good lie-in is 8.30am. I always had early call times when I worked on television, so I became used to being an early riser and a late worker.
I went to a health spa with my mother when I was about seven years old. They all started their day with hot water and lemon. It was the first bit of beauty advice I ever heard and since the age of 25 I’ve done it every single day. I take Symprove and start the first half of my supplement ritual which includes Vitamin C liposomal, CoQ10, NMN, Vitamin D, Oestogel and Progesterone among others. I’ve done this for about seven years.
Coffee cancels out the effects of creatine so I avoid it first thing. As a post-menopausal woman I need to have strong muscles. I’ve been taking it for about a year and I’ve had some interesting results with regards to memory. My mother had quite bad Alzheimer's disease so I am always looking at research around that.
Saturday is my day of rest so I don’t do a workout and I eat whatever the hell I like. During the week I make sure I have a lot of protein and not too much sugar, but at the weekend I could have two croissants before cheddar cheese and marmalade on a baguette. It’ll be a carb-central sitting.

If my daughter Lyla is coming to spend the weekend, I will make a plan for lunch or dinner. Anyone who is the parent of a 22-year-old will know you are at the behest of the available free moments that they care to spend with you.
I will take Daffy for a walk in Kensington Gardens where I've walked since I was a child. I’ll go down Sloane Street and into Harvey Nichols to see the fashion... down to Sloane Square to our flagship store. The weekend brings lots of international customers - I love meeting our customers and often they are quite startled that I am there.
If I’ve arranged to meet someone for lunch I’ll go to The Wolseley in Picadilly, Colbert in Sloane Square or The Park. If they have the ossobuco with polenta on the menu that’s what I’ll have - it’s my winter favourite. I might have the clam chowder or the banana split - it is Saturday after all.
I might take a wander to Liberty - they have great fashion including Dries van Noten which I love. I like to check that everything is displayed correctly at the Trinny London counter and to see how the customers are being looked after. A big challenge for me, having started the business online, is a sense of losing control over that customer journey. I can’t be in H beauty in Milton Keynes, for example, but if I can be at Liberty and the flagship, I can see what works really well and what doesn’t.

I might go to the Royal Academy of Arts. I feel an obligation to know about art. I have a friend who is extremely knowledgeable and I love her taking me around the galleries. She took me to the Leonardo exhibition at the National Gallery and really made him come alive for me. I don’t want to spend my weekends just shopping - I want to learn something new.
I don’t really like to go out at night on a Saturday as I’m out a lot midweek. My stepson Zak cooks very well and I have a young tenant - my best friend’s nephew - who went to the Ballymaloe Cookery School. I’ll get the ingredients and they’ll cook up a storm.
Lyla will be playing Sims and watching TV, I’ll be doing the New York Times crossword and watching TV... At the moment we’re watching Succession again. It’s all very chill.
I don’t go out on a Saturday night though one of my girlfriends is encouraging me to go dancing. The last thing I want to do is go out dancing on a rainy Saturday night but it’s a good thing to challenge yourself. I know she’ll soon have me dancing at the Cuckoo Club.
On Saturday night I will double cleanse, very gently exfoliate and do microneedling on my face and neck. I’ll then put on soft PHA, Plump Up which has lots of peptides in it and the elixir which helps to heal skin. I don’t have time to go for facials, so Saturday night is when I do that treatment.
I’ve done melatonin and sleeping pills but I’m now taking Magnesium L-Threonate which is really helping me sleep. I’ll sleep for about six hours which is an hour less than I’d like. I’ll listen to the Rest is Politics US or Inside Trump’s Head. British politics is so appalling at the moment that I can’t bear to listen to anything about it.
